Beskrivning
24 February 2025 marks three years since the start of Russia’s full scale and illegal war of aggression against Ukraine. Three years of massive destruction and indescribable human suffering has forced one third of the Ukrainians to leave their homes and caused the death of tens of thousands of soldiers and civilians.
Since the outbreak of the war, the EU has stayed united in its support for Ukraine and delivered the largest support package in history for the war-torn country, phased out its dependency on Russian fossil fuels and agreed on fifteen sanction packages against Russia. But with Donald Trump’s return to the White House, there is fear that the US support for Ukraine could waiver and that it will lead to decreased support also among the EU Member States. Many European leaders now want to make sure both Ukraine and the EU have a seat at the negotiating table to avoid a situation where Ukraine is forced to accept a peace dictated by Russia.
What is the situation in Ukraine right now? What is the EU doing to step up its support? And what does the road to a peace on Ukraine’s terms look like? Join us for a panel discussion with Andrii Plakhotniuk, Ambassador of Ukraine to Sweden, Karolina Ostrzyniewska, Chargé d'affaires, Embassy of Poland in Sweden and Christian Danielsson, State Secretary to the Swedish Minister for EU Affairs.
