Beskrivning
On 27 June, the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission will hold a seminar on the New European Bauhaus to connect, exchange and celebrate the numerous initiatives at national and European level organised in the past 6 month of the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU. The New European Bauhaus has come a long way since its start in 2020; it has grown into a movement with a community of more than 1 000 members from all EU Member States and beyond, with a large network of active members in Sweden.
The seminar “New European Bauhaus in Sweden: towards design-oriented, inclusive and sustainable societal and urban transformation”, will be hosted by ArkDes (Exercisplan 4, Skeppsholmen, Stockholm) from 11 to 12:30 (Aula ArkDes).
The seminar will bring together practitioners from the creative and artistic sector, policymakers, industries and citizens eager to transform the living environments in a beautiful, sustainable and inclusive way. The event will be opened by Stephen Quest, Director General of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission and Karin Svanborg-Sjövall, State Secretary to Swedish Minister for Culture Parisa Liljestrand. After, Helena Bjarnegård, National Architect and NEB National Contact Point, will take stock of some major events and activities that took place in Sweden during the Swedish Presidency.
The second part of the event will include a panel discussion between Ambra Trotto, Design and Research Director d.centre|EU at RISE Research Institute, Carina Sammeli, Mayor of Luleå and Tiffany Fukuma, Managing Director Trans Europe Halles, who will exchange on Sweden’s approach to creative governance, culture and design for societal transformation, unveiling some tangible examples on the ground and complementarities between the Swedish and European initiatives inspired by the New European Bauhaus.
During the event, there will be an opportunity to engage in the discussions and ask questions.
The seminar will be followed by refreshments and networking.
If you are interested to participate, please fill in this form by 18 June. Please note that we will only be able to accept a limited number of participants who will be selected on first-come-first-served basis.
The event will be livestreamed here.
