On 24 February 2024, two years has passed since the start of Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine. And since the beginning the EU has shown unity in condemning Russia's actions and promising support to Ukraine for as long as it takes. So far, the EU and its Member States have made available over €85 billion in support for Ukraine.
In December 2023, the leaders of EU’s 27, the European Council, decided to open accession negotiations with Ukraine. Earlier this month they also agreed to set up the Ukraine Facility with a budget of €50 billion to support Ukraine's recovery, reconstruction and modernization and its efforts to carry out reforms as part of its accession path to the EU.
In the years to come more military, financial and humanitarian aid will be needed to help Ukraine fight the Russian aggressor and support its accession path to the EU.
The future relations between the EU and Ukraine will be discussed by a panel consisting of the following persons:
- Andrii Plakhotniuk, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Sweden
- Diana Janse, State Secretary to Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Johan Forssell
- Etienne de Gonneville, Ambassador of France to Sweden
- Boris Gehrke, Deputy Head of Mission, German Embassy in Sweden
