Beskrivning
The European Union is founded on the values of respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights, including the rights of persons belonging to minorities. In a democracy, citizens must be able to rely upon a judiciary that is independent, on a legislature that respects fundamental rights, and on an executive that abides by the law.
What can the EU do to uphold the values of the EU including the principles of rule of law? What is the European Commission’s role in this and what position does Sweden take? These and many more questions will be discussed in this seminar.
Speakers:
Hans Dahlgren, Swedish Minister for EU Affairs
Didier Reynders, EU Commissioner for Justice
Moderator:
Anna Wetter Ryde, Deputy Director, Swedish Institute for European Studies
Venue:
Europahuset, Regeringsgatan 65, 2nd floor, Stockholm
The seminar will be held in English.
The seminar is arranged by the EU Commission Representation in Sweden and will be livestreamed on Facebook.
